The Transport Ministry said the ministry is now contracting with companies, universities, institutions or banks to name stations of the monorail after these entities or establishments and not names of businessmen who own these firms or facilities.

In a statement Saturday, the ministry added some stations will have names of a number of national symbols such as Field Marshal Tantawi and Counselor Hisham Barakat in recognition of their great national achievements they made serving the Egyptian people.

The statement clarified reports that the Transport Ministry is cooperating with businessmen to name the monorail’s stations after them in return for paying costs of construction works.
