Turkish stocks end week with decline

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index ended Friday at 5,212.38 points, down 0.93% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 5,244.71 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 49.03 points compared to Thursday’s close of 5,261.41 points.

The index’s lowest value during the last transaction day was 5,054.44, while its daily high was 5,298.39.

The total market value of BIST 100 was around 4.25 trillion Turkish liras ($225.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 95 billion liras ($5.01billion).

During the day, 29 stocks on the index rose and 69 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,849.55, while Brent crude oil sold at around $84.1 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT).
