The Palestinian human rights organization, Addameer, said today on the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD), which falls annually on March 8th, that there are 29 Palestinian female prisoners currently incarcerated in Israeli jails under harsh conditions and are subjected to a systematic policy of medical negligence.

The human rights organization, in a press statement, said that among the 29 female prisoners, 13 have received varying sentences, the highest of which was issued against two 16-year-old teenagers.

It added that seven female prisoners are injured, and 15 are suffering from various health issues, in addition to 6 mothers, two minors, and a female prisoner who was placed under administrative detention without charge or trial.

Addameer organization said that 15 female prisoners are still held under pre-trial detention and are awaiting their hearings in Israeli courts, which it stressed, lack guarantees of a fair trial.
