“The crewmembers were flying two HH60 Blackhawk helicopters during a routine training mission when the incident occurred,” the US Army’s Fort Campbell based said in a statement on Thursday, adding that nine soldiers died in the crash.

The two helicopters crashed around 10 p.m. Wednesday in Trigg County near the Tennessee border, officials at nearby Fort Campbell said.

They noted that there were no survivors.

“The command is currently focused on caring for the servicemembers and their families,” the Fort Campbell statement said.

It affirmed that more information will be released as it becomes available. The incident is under investigation.
