Leïla Chikhaoui, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Tunisia, highlighted her country’s climate objectives to adapt and cope with climate change, affirming that climate challenges have become more frequent in Tunisia.

In statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of COP28, Chikhaoui praised operationalising the Loss and Damage Fund, noting to its role in enhancing global climate action in light of climate change repercussions, including water scarcity and desertification.

Tunisia supports the COP28 UAE Climate and Health Declaration, which was approved by 120 countries, and has been making continuous efforts in climate action for years, the minister said,

Chikhaoui expressed her hope that the outcomes of COP28 will contribute to achieving climate promises, reaffirming her country’s confidence in the UAE’s presidency of the climate summit and its ability to continue leading climate action.
