UAE Engages in G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Efforts in Brazil

NATAL: The United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority (UAEAA) actively participated in the G20 Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting in Natal, Brazil, focusing on global anti-corruption strategies and international cooperation. The meeting, held under the Brazilian Presidency, underscored the importance of fighting corruption as a key component for sustainable development. According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation was led by Humaid Obaid Abushibs, President of the UAEAA. The meeting gathered global leaders to address significant challenges in combating corruption and to promote global initiatives aimed at fostering a more transparent and accountable future. The discussions resulted in the adoption of the G20 Ministerial Declaration, emphasizing the necessity of preventing and combating corruption to achieve a just world and a sustainable planet. The Ministerial Meeting endorsed the G20 Anti-Corruption Action Plan for 2025-2027, which outlines shared priorities and goals identified by G20 member countries. This plan allows future G20 Presidencies the flexibility to establish their own priorities while ensuring the integration of related deliverables into their respective programs. Additionally, the meeting supported the G20 High-Level Principles on incentives for the private sector to implement comprehensive integrity measures to prevent and combat corruption. The participants recognized that achieving a just world and a sustainable environment requires a collaborative commitment from various stakeholders. They encouraged the private sector to adopt integrity systems that consider potential environmental, social, and economic impacts of business activities.
