RABAT: The Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council (FNC) participated in the meeting of parliamentary women of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA) as part of the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation, held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

Maryam Majid bin Theneya, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, presented the UAE experience in women’s empowerment and promotion of gender balance during a session titled “The empowerment of women parliamentarians to support development and good governance in African and Arab regions”.

She said the UAE launched the National Policy for Empowerment of Emirati Women 2023 – 2031, which aims to facilitate equitable and comprehensive participation of women in all sectors and enhance the quality of life in the society.

She added that the Gender Balance Council had launched the Gender Balance Guideto integrate gender into policies and programmes.

UAE, she said, lead the MENA region in the Worl
d Bank’s Women, Business and the Law 2023 report.
