Southern Lebanon – An international peacekeeping soldier from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has been shot by an unknown source near the southern border of Lebanon.
According to Jordan News Agency, UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti reported that the incident occurred after midnight at a UNIFIL site near the village of Al Quzah in southern Lebanon. The injured soldier received medical treatment, including surgery, and is currently recovering. Tenenti emphasized that the source of the shooting remains unidentified, and UNIFIL has launched an investigation into the incident. He condemned any form of targeting near UNIFIL positions and the use of such areas to launch attacks across the Blue Line as unacceptable.
