UPDATE: Israeli ongoing shelling near Al-Amal hospital, where the displaced sought refuge, kills woman and injures several others

GAZA: A woman was killed and others were injured today in the ongoing Israeli targeting of the vicinity of Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

The occupation’s armored tanks shelled areas near the Al-Amal hospital and the PRCS headquarters in Khan Yunis, where thousands of displaced persons sought refuge, killing a woman and injuring nine others, reported the Society.

PRCS noted that its headquarters in Khan Yunis remains surrounded by Israeli forces.

In the meantime, medical sources confirmed that the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis also remains under Israeli military siege for the second consecutive week. The ongoing siege on the said hospital puts at risk 150 medical personnel, 450 wounded people and around 3,000 displaced persons who sought refuge there.

Sources reported that the power generators in the complex will stop operating in about two days due to the severe fuel shortage.

Sources added that waste remains unm
anaged in the hospital’s wards and courtyards and the occupation refuses to allow the disposal of the ever-increasing amount of waste.

According to the sources, the staff, the injured, and the displaced are running out of food at the complex.

Since last Monday, the Israeli occupation army has been carrying out a series of intensive airstrikes and artillery shelling on Khan Yunis and the vicinity of hospitals there.

Israeli tanks also carried out ground invasions of the southern and western areas of the city, forcing civilians to flee the area for fear of being killed or injured.

To be noted, only 14 of 36 hospitals in Gaza are partially functional, including nine in the south and six others in the north.

Israel’s aerial, sea and ground aggression on Gaza since October 7 has so far claimed the lives of 26,637 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women. Approximately 65,387 others were injured and over 8,000 were reported missing.

Casualty data in Gaza are incomplete due to the intensive Israe
li aggression, the repeated and complete interruption of communication and internet services, lack of fuel and devastated infrastructure, which render it difficult to document figures.
