WASHINGTON: US senator Bernie Sanders has slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for committing atrocities in the Gaza Strip, adding that the US cannot be complicit in Israel’s “horrific” war against the Palestinian people.

“The whole world is watching. Netanyahu is starving the children of Gaza. We cannot be complicit in this atrocity,’ Sanders said in a video message on his X social account.

“I cannot find words to describe how horrific the situation is and could become,” he added.

Sander noted that only a tiny fraction of the food, water, medicine and fuel that is “desperately” needed can get into Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli bombing and restrictions on aid entering Gaza.

“Today, hundreds of thousands of children are starving and lack clean drinking water. The United Nations says the entire population of Gaza is at imminent risk of famine and some 378,000 people are starving right now,” he said.
