Major indexes in the US stock market closed with gains on Thursday for the second day in a row. The Dow Jones added 141 points, or 0.43%, to finish the day at 32,859. The S and P 500 rose 23 points, or 0.57% to 4,050. The Nasdaq increased 87 points, or 0.73%, to end the session at 12,013. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, shed 0.26% to 19.07, and the 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.43% to at 3.551%. The dollar index fell 0.5% to 102.16, while the euro rose 0.6% to $1.0907 against the greenback. Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.8% to $1,981 per ounce, and silver jumping 2.4% to $23.91. Crude oil prices soared around 1.6%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $78.53 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $74.34.
