Amman: Electric vehicle clearance at the Zarqa Free Zone saw an increase of 93 percent in the first two months of the year, compared to the same period of 2022, as demand on hybrid cars tripled, according to latest figures.
Jihad Abu Nasser, representative of the automobile sector at the Jordan Free Zone Investor Commission, said in a press release Monday that the total number of vehicles cleared over the January-February period stood at 9,434, including 2174 gasoline-powered, 1,152 diesel, 2,463 hybrid and 3,645 electric vehicles.
Nasser referred to a 300 per cent growth in hybrid vehicle clearance rates in the past two months. compared to the same period last year.
Some 5,820 vehicles were re-exported in the first two months of the year, compared to 5,745 vehicles in the same period last year, he said.
