SHARJAH: The Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Al Qasimia University (AQU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of designing, organising, and delivering training programmes in light of the latest developments in the media field in the UAE, whether remotely or in person, in addition to the exchange of knowledge and expertise in this regard.

The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, and Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, Director-General of WAM, at the university campus in Sharjah, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides and a group of media professionals.

On this occasion, Dr. Awad Al Khalaf said that the MoU comes within the framework of the university’s keenness to strengthen its partnership with the Emirates News Agency and cooperate with it in the field of media training, as it is a prestigious institution in the media sector.

This is an important step that aims to develop joint training programmes
that contribute to supporting the media sector, which is a fundamental pillar in shedding light on the sustainable development paths in the United Arab Emirates, he added.

Dr. Al Khalaf expressed his confidence that this MoU will strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two sides in a way that supports their roles and achieves their common goals in this regard.

For his part, Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi said that the MoU, which focuses on the field of media training, is the beginning of a fruitful cooperation with the university within the framework of WAM’s efforts to expand its partnerships and strengthen its cooperation with academic institutions in the country by harnessing its capabilities and expertise that extend for nearly 48 years, to serve students of media colleges in the country’s universities and train them as the future cadres who will carry the banner of media work and convey the message of the nation to the world.

He praised Al Qasimia University and its role in providing the country with
qualified graduates in various specialisations and fields, including the media sector through the College of Communication.
