Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Malki held talks on the sidelines of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York with his counterparts from different countries and attended important meeting, including one in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Taking part in the ministerial meeting in support of UNRWA held on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UNGA meetings, Malki called on the international community to provide the necessary support to UNRWA to help it carry out its work with the Palestinian refugees and to make sure it continues in this work until a just and peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue is reached in accordance with Resolution 194 of the UNGA. Malki also participated in the annual coordination meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). ost notably the rise in the phenomenon of ‘Islamophobia’ and the recurrence of the crime of the desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an, and to discuss ways to confront these challenges and unify the positions of the member states of the OIC towards the issues of the Islamic nation. The Foreign Minister also held talks with his Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh Mohammed, the Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, and New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta, during which he briefed them on the latest developments in Palestine and the escalating Israeli violations against the Palestinian people on a daily basis.
