About 34 percent of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission’s (CARC) and 20 percent of the air navigation workforce is women, who managed to secure jobs in the industry against the odds, said CARC Board of Commissioners Chairman, Haitham Mesto.

Addressing a meeting of the Women’s Empowerment Team of top CARC female employees, which he chaired on Tuesday, Mesto highlighted the need to increase the percentage of women in the commission and enable them to acquire leadership roles.

“This advanced progressive step is a continuation of a tireless national effort, and the culmination of the initiatives and capacities of CARC women workers”, he said, adding that supporting women’s contribution is a key focus of the commission.

Mesto stressed the need to continue the empowerment and recruitment of skilled female labor in the aviation sector, commending the efforts of female employees in various positions.

The Women Empowerment Team was formed last month, underscoring their key role in the commission.
