Wood carvings by artist Wael Hilal carry messages of Syrian creativity to UAE

Wood carvings by a Syrian artist Wael Hilal were showcased in Eshraqat exhibition 2022, UAE.

Syrian artist and sculptor Hilal participated in Eshraqat exhibition 2022 along with set of the Arab artists through eight wood carvings which simulate many human situations, including nostalgia, pain and joy and showcase the creativity of the Syrian artists.


“My homeland has a long history and full of life , my message as a Syrian artist is to translate it with my carvings works that embody the beauty in our human and historical existence,” Hilal said.

Hilal pointed out to the importance of the participation in the exhibition as a rich experience and an opportunity to convey the homeland’s culture, civilization, and history to others countries.

He indicated that he was inspired by this participation ideas for making three-dimensional art carvings with giant sizes of stone, marble and wood materials, so that these works are found in cultural centers, squares and gardens as monumental works that dialogue with Arabic language and leave for passers-by a visual component inspired by their culture.
