Amman: The World Social Media Forum, themed “Building a Flexible and Sustainable Media Sector,” commenced in Amman on Thursday, marking a significant gathering of Arab content creators and social media experts.

The forum, organized by the Moments Innovation platform, is designed to be a melting pot for media leaders, content creators, and social media specialists to engage in vital discussions.

Ayman Irshaid, CEO of the Moments Innovation platform, highlighted the forum’s unique role in bridging the gap between social media’s influence on public opinion and the advancement of Arab media on a global scale.

The forum’s sessions are set to cover a range of topics, from the impact of social media in shaping narratives to the integration of sustainable practices in media operations.

The timing of the forum coincides with critical developments in the Palestinian territories, where Jordan has been actively involved. Irshaid pointed out Jordan’s significant contributions, under the direction of His Majesty King A
bdullah II, in influencing international public opinion regarding the war on Gaza. These efforts have been instrumental in breaking the siege and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and medical supplies.

Dr. Yacoub Nasser Al-Din, President of the Middle East University, emphasized the forum’s importance in enhancing the effectiveness of social media in forming a global consensus on various political and humanitarian issues.

He noted the critical role of social media in the Palestinian issue, particularly in galvanizing global protests against the Israeli military aggression in Gaza.

Senator Mohamed Momani, during the forum’s opening session titled “The Role of Social Media in Shaping Opinion,” discussed the significant impact of social media on global public opinion during the Gaza war.

He pointed out the challenges traditional media faces in keeping pace with the rapid dissemination of information on social media platforms, especially regarding the war in Gaza.

The forum will continue to explo
re the evolving landscape of media, with a focus on the influence of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Discussions will also address Jordan’s diplomatic efforts in altering international perspectives on the Gaza conflict and the vital role played in providing aid to the region.
