ABU DHABI: Zayed National Museum, in partnership with Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital under Emirates Health Services, has introduced the 'Morning Hour' programme to support the mental health of seniors with memory impairments. This initiative, featuring a series of five interactive workshops, seeks to enhance communication, evoke memories, and alleviate social isolation among participants. According to Emirates News Agency, the 'Morning Hour' programme integrates elements of history and art, enabling participants to create artworks using natural materials such as clay, plants, and dyes. This approach encourages seniors to recall personal experiences while fostering a connection with Emirati heritage. Dr. Noor Al Mheiri, Director of Mental Health at Emirates Health Services, emphasized the programme's significance in promoting mental well-being and encouraging community integration. Dr. Ammar Albanna, Director of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, noted the positive impact of creative expression on participants' qual ity of life. Nassra Al Buainain, Acting Learning and Public Engagement Director at Zayed National Museum, highlighted that the partnership underscores the museum's commitment to enhancing community participation, especially for those who face challenges in accessing cultural experiences. The 'Morning Hour' is part of Emirates Health Services' Mental Health Awareness Month initiatives, which include exhibitions and workshops aimed at improving the quality of life in the UAE. Key events during the awareness month include an innovation exhibition on modern mental health treatments, the 'Art of Hope' exhibition, and a ceremony honoring winners of the 'Mental Health Campaign' competition for innovative ideas. Additionally, the 'Customer Councils' initiative has been introduced to provide direct communication channels with patients and their families, aiming to further enhance mental health services. These efforts are aligned with Emirates Health Services' national objectives, positioning the UAE as a leader in i ntegrated healthcare.
