ABU DHABI: Marking Zayed Humanitarian Work Day and in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, implemented a pioneering community initiative by organising a collective iftar banquet across 27 governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt for people of determination, their families, and the staff affiliated with 68 communication centres for people of determination under the Bridges of Hope programme, sponsored and supported by ADQ. The iftar banquet was attended by 11,242 beneficiaries, including 5,281 people of determination, 5,281 guardians or companions, and 680 specialists working in communication centres.
Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, emphasised that this initiative, which involved a simultaneous iftar banquet across Egypt, bringing together people of determination, their families, and the staff of these centres on Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, aims to combine chari
table work with social solidarity, aiming to enhance social solidarity and provide support to the most underprivileged groups in society.
The cooperation protocol between the organisation and the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Bridges of Hope programme, sponsored by ADQ and supported by the organisation, has achieved significant success in transferring experience and programme expertise to support families of people of determination across Egypt through family counselling programmes. The programme also succeeded in developing 68 communication centres in Egyptian villages within a record time of less than a year and a half, despite initially being scheduled for completion in three years. This success was made possible thanks to the support and backing from all state agencies in Egypt, benefiting up to 17,000 people of determination in 27 governorates of the republic.
