5,500 kilometers of canals rehabilitated until now

Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati asserted that 5,500 kilometers of canals were rehabilitated in the different governorates until now while 4,122 kilometers are now undergoing development process.

This came during two meetings held by the minister with a number of leaderships of the Ministry of irrigation to follow up the rehabilitation process and the transition into modern irrigation systems in the different governorates.

The ministry implements this national project which aims at rehabilitating 20,000 km of canals at the cost of EGP 80 billion by mid 2024, he said.

The rehabilitation of irrigation canals falls within the Irrigation Ministry’s plan to stimulate the comprehensive development process for the water system.

The plan also aims at applying modern irrigation system and using smart irrigation applications.
