Cairo condemns Houthis’ breach of US Embassy compound in Sanaa

Egypt has denounced the Houthis’ breach of the compound used as the US Embassy in Sanaa and detention of Yemeni staff at the building earlier this month.

In a statement by the Foreign Ministry on Saturday 20/11/2021, Cairo stressed that the Houthi attack is a flagrant violation of international law and norms, as well as the inviolability of diplomatic missions.

Egypt also emphasized the need to respect the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations adopted in 1961, calling for the immediate release of all captives held by the Houthis and withdrawal from the compound.
