Minister: Sisi stressed importance of fertilizer system’s stability as strategic industry

Agriculture Minister El Sayed El Quseir said on Saturday 27/11/2021 President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the importance of the stability of the fertilizer system as one of the strategic industries.

In a phone interview with Al Hayah TV channel, Quseir asserted the necessity of availability of all types of fertilizers to cover the plants’ needs, pointing out Sisi directed him to form a higher committee, chaired by the Agriculture Ministry in cooperation with the Industry Ministry and universities, to study the Egyptian market’s capacity in the fertilizers industry.

Egypt produces seven million tons of fertilizers, the minister noted, underlining the State decided to allocate 55% of fertilizers for young farmers (about four million tons).

The country produces double of its needs of fertilizers as 10% of which is allocated for the free market, he added.
