Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi on Thursday welcomed the restoration of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Qatar.
The move came following a successful meeting of the Qatar-Bahrain follow-up committee, held at the GCC Secretariat-General’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The GCC chief commended the step as having been taken under the direction of the GCC leaders during their summit held in Saudi Arabia in January 2021, which reflected keenness on the future and entity of the Gulf bloc.
The Qatar-Bahrain follow-up committee on Wednesday announced the restoration of diplomatic relations to boost GCC integration and unity.
The GCC consists of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman.
