ABU DHABI, 13th September 2023 (WAM) — The 2nd edition of Abu Dhabi Summer Sports (ADSS) saw a remarkable increase of 92 percent in visitor numbers in comparison to the previous edition. Organised by ADNEC Services, a subsidiary of ADNEC Group, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, ADSS was held from 6th June to 20th August at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and between 8th July and 20th August at Al Ain Convention Centre, in an area of approximately 34,000 square metres with an increase of about 25 percent over last year, boasting 39 courts and pitches equipped with world-class facilities. The 2nd edition of ADSS showcased a diverse range of sporting activities and tournaments that drew a total of 83,000 visitors. The highlights included the Champions League tournaments in football, volleyball, and padel tennis, while attendees also enthusiastically participated in over 40 competitions and challenges spanning jiu-jitsu, basketball, badminton, obstacle courses, chess, and community runn
ing events. Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADNEC Group, said, “ADSS succeeded in attracting a remarkable number of visitors in its 2nd edition. Corporate bookings during the 2023 edition doubled in comparison to the previous year. The event successfully catered to the growing demand for sports events and tournaments at the local level.” “In this year’s edition, the ADNEC Group collaborated with the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to allow pensioners and beneficiaries registered with the Fund to use all sports facilities in ADSS events free of charge. This is part of our efforts to enhance the experience of visitors and participants of all ages. We also look forward to launching new initiatives and events in the next ADSS edition,” Al Dhaheri added.
