Amb Nasser Kamel praises Egypt’s int’l commitments on honoring its pledges

Choosing Egypt to host the 27th edition of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 27) in 2022 is considered an international certificate of success of Cairo’s commitment to honor pledges, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean Nasser Kamel said on Monday 4/10/2021.

In statements to MENA on the sidelines of the ministerial conference on climate and environment, he said the political leadership’s vision makes Egypt an ideal country in terms of combatting climate change at the national and regional levels.

He added that (COP 27) in 2022 is considered the biggest international gathering attended by world leaders as well as government officials and NGOs.

Kamel said the Euro-Mediterranean region is considered an example to follow after the European Union adopted a new green deal known as “Green New Deal” to combat the climate change.

He hailed Egypt’s plan to adopt solar and wind energies to generate 50 percent of the country’s total energy by 2035.
