Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa arrived in Nouakchott, Mauritania, early on Tuesday 8/2/2022 to attend an African conference on world peace.
Egyptian Ambassador here Khaled Youssef and a number of Mauritanian government officials received Gomaa at the airport.
Gomaa is set to take part in the inaugural session of the “Making Peace for the World” conference, slated for February 9.
Participants in the three-day event will probe the current situation in Africa, with focus on mechanisms to dismantle the discourse of hate and extremism.
They will pinpoint examples that promote the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence in Africa.
Figuring high in the sessions will also be the files of poverty, ignorance and unemployment.
The conference should come out with recommendations to support peace and reconciliations, and set the scene for serious and sustainable action to promote peace in the continent.
