The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today confirmed that the body of a Palestinian migrant that has been missing at sea since January 21 was found.

It said in a statement that the body of Ayman Hassan Abu Abed, which has been missing after a boat he was in capsized while trying to immigrate to Europe via Greece by sea, was found in the Aegean Sea near the coast of the Greek island of Ko.

Palestine Embassy Chargé d’Affairs Yousef Darkham confirmed that Abu Abed’s body was identified by matching DNA samples and that the embassy is in touch with his family in the city of Bani Suhaila, in the south of the Gaza Strip, to complete the arrangements for transporting it to Gaza for burial.
