Syrian-Russian talks on advancing Russian language teaching

Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, discussed on Saturday with the chairman of the Christian World Association in Russia Alexei Cherkezov mechanisms of developing teaching of Russian language, and improving capabilities of its teachers.

Tabbaa indicated the importance of activating student and teachers’ visits between Syria and Russia with the aim of exchanging educational and cultural experiences and unifying the efforts of the two peoples, noting the importance of rehabilitating Russian language teachers within two years due to the increasing demand for studying the language.

For his part, Cherkezov pointed out many activities to be carried out in Syria , including opening of classes which teach the Russian language online , as well as setting up camps for children in Russia , and following up on the educational preparation of Russian language teachers.

Cairo University ranked among top 100 world’s institutions

Cairo University was listed among the top 100 global educational institutions under the 2022 QS World University Rankings.

Mohamed Osman El Khosht, president of the university, said Thursday the university occupied a 51-100 category place in the engineering domain.

It held a 51-70 position in dentistry and was listed in the 81st place in pharmacy field.

The university was listed in the 271st position globally in the field of arts and human science.

It came 134th in technology and engineering domain and 178th in medicine field.

Cairo University was also listed in the 292nd position in natural science and 226th in administrative and social science.

El Khosht lauded that great progress made by the university, noting that such achievements are attributed to the best strategic planning adopted at all levels to compete with advanced universities worldwide.

Emigration Ministry: Exams for Egyptian students returning from Ukraine to start Monday

The Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs said exams for Egyptian students returning home in the wake of Russian-Ukranian crisis will start Monday.

According to a statement Sunday by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egyptian students – wishing to join the Faculty of Medicine Cairo University, Faculty of Dentistry Ain Shams University and Faculty of Engineering Ain Shams University – who submitted their papers to the ministry, during the period between (March 14 – March 24), will sit for exams as of Monday.

Students will take the exams to determine their abilities and disciplines in which they will continue their studies, the statement said.

Some 1,270 Egyptian students coming back from Ukraine have filled out a government form to transfer to private and national Egyptian universities, it added.

All measures are meant to facilitate on Egyptian students back home due to the Ukranian-Russian conflict, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, according to the statement.

called on Egyptian students enrolled in universities there and facing difficulties regarding withdrawing their files or obtaining documents and exam records on their prior enrollment in Ukranian universities to send their data on the link:

Govt denies suspending schools during Ramadan

The media center of the cabinet denied on Thursday reports that schools will be suspended during the holy fasting month of Ramadan over growing coronavirus infections.

The center said it contacted the Education Ministry that dismissed as groundless the reports, saying no decision was issued to suspend schools in Ramadan.

The ministry said any decision to suspend the educational process should be taken by the higher committee for coronavirus crisis management based on updates on the epidemiological situation in the country.

The educational process is regular in all schools across the nation in accordance with the timetable of 2021/2022 academic year, the ministry said.

It urged media outlets to verify the authenticity of news before publishing them.

Egypt calls for adopting Arab strategy to support health research studies

Acting Minister of Health and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar called for adopting an Arab and national strategy to support scientific research in various health fields in a way that helps build a strong health infrastructure and systems capable of addressing any future epidemiological challenges.

 

The president of the executive bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers for Health was speaking on Thursday during the 56th session of the council that kicked off today at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) General Secretariat.

 

Abdel Ghaffar asserted the importance of sharing Arab capacities to achieve self-sufficiency in the fields of vaccine production, drugs and medical supplies.

 

This requires sharing financing to help push forward the research fields, he said, suggesting the establishment of a joint Arab research fund.

 

The council’s executive council, during its yesterday’s meeting, called for activating several key recommendations and resolutions including boosting joint Arab efforts to adopt an Arab strategy to standardize procedures for registration and approval of vaccinations and their use in the Arab countries, he said.

 

He highlighted Egypt’s distinguished experiment led by VACSERA Co. via its cooperation with China, as a result of which Egypt is boosting the local manufacturing technology of Sinovac vaccines.

 

Egypt seeks to become a hub for vaccine production and manufacturing to provide them to the Arab and African countries, he said.
