Congressmen praise Decent Life initiative projects

A US delegation comprising a host of Democratic and Republican congressional aides praised Monday development projects being carried out at Egyptian villages under the Decent Life initiative.

The congressmen held a meeting with Cabinet officials to get acquainted with details of the presidential initiative, which aims to improve the living conditions of 60 million villagers in Egypt, Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said.

During the meeting, the Cabinet officials said that the initiative aims to upgrade 4,500 villages across the nation at a cost of 700 billion pounds.

The initiative also aims to secure jobs, improve the educational system and provide care for the most vulnerable groups, such as women, children and people with special needs, the officials added.

For his part, Assistant Prime Minister and President of the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) Osama el Gohary said that the initiative aims to achieve economic development goals adopted by the Egyptian state.

He added that the initiative is totally funded by the State budget, but its projects are being carried out by the private sector.
