Cyprus House of Representatives observed one minute of silence dedicated to the victims of the fatal train accident in Tempi, Greece, during Thursday’s plenary session.

House President Annita Demetriou, expressed the deepest sorrow of the Parliament for the “unspeakable tragedy”, while she said that the body sympathizes with the Greek government and the people of Greece.

At the same time, she said that they were in agony and concern for the fate of the two missing Cypriots who were travelling in the trains.

“On behalf of all the members of the body, I express our sincere condolences and our undivided support to the families and relatives of the victims,” she said.

She added that she had expressed her sincere condolences to the President of the Greek Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, and to the Ambassador of Greece in Cyprus, Ioannis Papameletiou.

Demetriou also noted that the flags are flying at half-mast in the building of the House of Representatives, which, participating in the heavy national mourning, has illuminated the building with the colors of the Greek flag.
