Egypt, Malaysia probe fostering bilateral cooperation in health field

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed during a meeting on Tuesday 22/2/2022 with Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Zamani Ismail means of fostering bilateral cooperation in the health sector.

The meeting touched on cooperation between Egypt and Malaysia in addressing the coronavirus pandemic through providing vaccines.

The agenda of the meeting included procedures for mutual recognition of COVID-19 vaccination certificates in order to facilitate the safe movement of citizens between the two countries, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in a statement.

The two sides emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise between Egypt and Malaysia as regards strategies to address the pandemic, as well as the systems of providing vaccines in the two countries.

The meeting also probed prospects for expanding cooperation in relation to exchanging educational missions and developing the capabilities of human cadres via offering scholarships for university students from both countries.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian ambassador expressed thanks to the Egyptian government for its efforts to facilitate administering COVID-19 vaccines to Malaysian nationals in Egypt.

He also voiced appreciation for Malaysia’s close cooperation with Egypt in various fields.
