Eid prayers limited to grand mosques – Awqaf Ministry

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa announced on Saturday fresh rules for the Eid prayers.

The prayers will be limited to grand mosques, the minister said.

Eid prayers will not be allowed at public squares to ensure the implementation of social distancing rules and avoid crowds, he added in a statement.

The minister also announced women’s prayer areas at mosques would be opened during Eid prayers, with strict adherence to all COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The Eid sermon should not exceed 10 minutes, he noted.
