Amman: The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said Saturday it documented the killing by the Israeli army of 94 Palestinian university professors as well as hundreds of teachers and thousands of students, in the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7.

The Geneva-based independent organization said in a statement that among thousands of air strikes, the Israeli army carried out deliberate attacks targing academic, scientific and intellectual figures in the Gaza Strip.

Dozens of them were killed in direct raids on their homes without warning, and were crushed and buried under the rubble along with their families or other displaced families, adding that initial indications pointed that there is no justification or a clear goal behind targeting those people.

It said the list included 17 professors, 59 PhD holders and 18 holders of master’s degrees, adding that the tally is not final as others were targeted but could not be reached or documented because of restrictions on movement, communication o
utages or who could be among thousands of missing people.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, 4,327 students were killed and 7,819 were injured in the aggression, while 231 teachers and administrators were killed and 756 suffered various injuries.

It said 281 public schools and 65 UNRWA schools were completely or partially destroyed in Gaza.
