Caretaker Minister of Energy, Walid Fayyad, left Beirut on Friday bound for Iraq to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and the Iraqi Ministry of Oil over supplying Lebanon with oil derivatives. This agreement comes in line with the discussions being held with Iraqi officials, led by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, and under the close follow-up of Minister Fayyad. Consequently, the Iraqi side approved an extension of the agreement to supply Lebanon with an increased quantity of Iraqi fuel oil. It is to note that Minister Fayyad will be returning to Beirut later on Friday evening.
