Foreign Minister and President-Designate of the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) Sameh Shoukry said the Egyptian presidency of the conference is keen to shed light on the climate-linked losses and negative impacts.

He made remarks on Saturday 24/09/2022 at a meeting with the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Shoukry reiterated that Egypt is aware about the growing losses and negative impacts caused by the climate change for these countries, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.

The minister also reviewed efforts of the Egyptian presidency of COP27 to tackle such climate-linked losses and negative impacts during the conference, which is set to be hosted by Egypt in Sharm El-Sheikh in November.

Egypt is looking forward to enhancing joint action and coordination with AOSIS to realize the desired goals and address the issue of the climate-related losses and negative impacts, added the spokesman.
