The Kingdom of Bahrain urged major world powers, especially the UN Security Council permanent member states, to stop escalation and hold an international meeting without pre-conditions to resolve conflicts.

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani stressed the importance of reaching consensual, peaceful, balanced and sustainable solutions that lead to halt the war between Russia and Ukraine, address its causes, end the bloodshed and achieve comprehensive peace.

He noted that this process will contribute to consolidating international peace and security, supporting the values of love, human fraternity, tolerance and coexistence among the peoples of the world.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supports efforts aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue and diplomacy in a way that achieves the interests of both parties to the conflict, maintains security, peace and stability in the European continent, and spares the whole world its humanitarian, security and economic fallout”, he said.

In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Dr. Al Zayani voiced the Kingdom’s deep concern over tensions, threats, political and military escalation and polarized world, as the war in Ukraine marks its first anniversary.

He warned against mounting fears of the wall spillover and the potential massive loss of life and property, devastating serious human, political and economic impacts on the two neighboring countries, in addition to their threats to world peace and energy and food supplies.

He reiterated Bahrain’s support to international efforts in providing humanitarian relief assistance, backing the initiatives led by of brotherly and friendly countries in the exchange of prisoners and facilitating food supplies.
