The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates called today for urgent international and American intervention to stop the implementation of the colonial plan known as the ‘Lower Aqueduct project’, which was approved by the Israeli occupation government.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the plan includes the building of approximately 1,792 colonial units in a new colonial complex in occupied East Jerusalem.

It added that this project is an integral part of the occupation plans aimed at flooding Jerusalem with colonies and colonialists and changing its existing historical, political, legal, and demographic reality.

The plan is also meant to Judaize Jerusalem and completely separate it from its Palestinian surroundings, thus deepening its separation from the south of the occupied West Bank through devouring hundreds of dunums of Palestinian land allocated for development and erasing any dividing lines or borders that define occupied East Jerusalem.

The Ministry affirmed that Israel exploits t
he circumstances of its bloody war on the Gaza Strip and the world’s preoccupation with it when approving this project, stressing that such a plan had been prepared decades ago.

The ministry considered it a blatant aggression against the Palestinian people, slamming it as part of the systematic Israeli undermining of the opportunity to embody the Palestinian state on the ground with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It stressed that this plan comes within the framework of Israel’s attempts to resolve the future of the possibility of negotiations on final solution issues unilaterally and by force of the occupation, which closes the door to reviving the peace process and resolving the conflict through political means.

The ministry said this would lead to plunging the conflict arena and the region into a never-ending spiral of violence that is difficult to control and also threatens security and stability in the region and the world.
