Free zones revenues rise to SYP 25.3 billion till last November

The revenues of the General Establishment for Free Zones have risen from the beginning of this year until the end of last November to SYP 25.3 billion, with an increase of SYP 16.1 billion in comparison with the revenues in the same period last year which were estimated at SYP 9.2 billion.

 

The Establishment indicated in a report that the value of goods and machinery imported into the free zones has amounted to SYP 83 billion, while the value of goods and machinery exported from the free zones, whether inside or outside the country, has amounted to SYP 140 billion.

 

According to the report, the total customs duties collected by the General Customs Directorate as a result of placing goods and machinery in the free zones for local consumption until the end of last November amounted to SYP 25.5 billion, and the number of investors until the end of the mentioned period was 818, while the capital invested by them amounted to 402 million dollars and they secured job opportunities for 5,151 workers.

 

In Syria, there are 9 free zones distributed over the provinces of Damascus and Lattakia, two of them each, and one in each of Tartous, Aleppo, Hasaka, Homs and Daraa.

 

The free zones were established in the main cities near the ports, airports and land ports, which made them regional distribution centers and transit gates.
