PM urges seprating Alexandria’s rain ‎drainage from sewage network

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has ordered the rapid preparation of work drawings of separating Alexandria’s rainwater drainage from the sewage network.

During his meeting on Monday with Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi, Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar, and Chairman of the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater Mamdouh Raslan, Madbouli urged to finish work as soon as possible, stressing the importance of benefitting from the rainwater.

The past years proved that Alexandria needs a radical solution for the aftermath of bad weather and the unprecedented heavy rains which the coastal governorate sees.

Gazzar pointed to the necessity of preparing an integrated study for Alexandria’s streets.

 

Raslan, for his part, said projects related to the sewage network are being implemented at a cost of EGP 1.3 billion in the governorate.

Alexandria Governor Mohamed el Sherif, who attended the meeting via videoconference, noted that he held a meeting with specialized professors who presented an important study to deal with the current situation, asserting the importance of permanent solutions for the rainwater.
