Gov’t denies canceling old digital birth certificates

The Cabinet media center denied reports about canceling the old digital birth certificates and requiring citizens to issue new ones.

In a statement Tuesday, the media center said it communicated with the Interior Ministry, which totally denied these reports, asserting that they are baseless and bare of truth.

Digital birth certificates are valid for life, added the statement, affirming that the procedures followed in all government agencies which require submitting birth certificate did not witness any changes.

The center, meanwhile, urged all media outlets to seek accuracy and objectivity before publishing news, advising them to contact bodies concerned so as to avoid sparking panic among the public.
