Hama produces approximately 668 walnut tons

Hama, SANA-Hama Agriculture Directorate has estimated the province’s production of walnut for current season at some 668 tons.

The overall areas planted with walnut trees in the province amounted to 6.250 dunums, of which 3396 irrigated and 2.854 more rainfed, according to Agriculture Director Ashraf Bakir.

Bakir added that walnut growing spreads most in Orontes River basin and in upland areas such as Masyaf and Wadi Al Uyun, noting that this crop generates good income for farmers for its various uses at making desserts and other winter foods.
