Scottish National Party (SNP) said Humza Yousaf is to become Scotland’s first minister. The 37-year-old, currently Scotland’s health secretary, is the first Muslim to lead a major UK party. Yousaf defeated rivals Kate Forbes, the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy, and Ash Regan, Minister for Community Safety, in a ballot among party members, as he won 52.1 per cent of the vote, while Forbes came second, with 47.9 per cent, and Reagan third, with 11.1 per cent. Reports suggested that Yousaf became the youngest prime minister in Scotland to assume this position.
