Irrigation minister: Egypt keen on supporting development process in all African states

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati asserted Egypt’s keenness on supporting the development process in all African states through implementing a variety of water projects and exchange expertise in the field of water resources.

The minister’s remarks were made during his meeting with Executive Secretary of The African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) for talks on boosting bilateral cooperation.

They discussed means of enhancing the role of AMCOW in the services of water issues and its challenges in Africa.

Abdel Aati, for his part, reviewed the current preparations for holding the 5th Cairo Water Week 2022 and the water pavilion that will be held as part of the upcoming UN climate change conference (COP27) due to be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

He also said Egypt is attaching great importance to hosting COP27 conference in order to come out with important recommendations, asserting that Egypt is keen on garnering all regional and international visions especially those related to water issues.

Egypt will receive the chairmanship of AMCOW in its upcoming session in 2023/2024 in appreciation of Cairo’s key role on the African arena.
