Irrigation minister stresses to manage water system

Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Atti highlighted Sunday continued efforts of his ministry to manage the water system with highest efficiency to preserve water in a way that would help reduce water complaints.

During a meeting Sunday, the minister reviewed with members of the Permanent Committee for Regulating the Nile River Revenue Nile water rates in the various governorates and the National Water Research Center (NWRC) optimal water management mechanisms.

Abdel Atti shed light on the ministry’s drives to guarantee providing necessary water needs for all sectors, via incorporating the highest efficiency techniques, that would in turn help achieve sustainable development goals.

All efforts are part of the ministry’s plan

to dynamically manage the water system, through constantly standing on rates of rainfall over the headwater streams throughout the year.

Abdel Atti issued his directives to keep the highest state of readiness at all the ministry’s affiliates to handle water resources during the period of maximum needs and ensure meeting water demand for all beneficiaries.

He also stood on ongoing efforts meant to clean canals and sanitize drains, as well as

increase work capacity of water lifting stations and emergency units at the various governorates in preparation for the upcoming agricultural season.
