Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture, Khaled Hneifat, Minister of Water, Mohammad Najjar, and Minister of Environment, Muawieh Radaideh, on Thursday met with Saudi Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli and accompanying Saudi delegation. The meeting went over partnership efforts and cooperation mechanisms to serve the two countries’ peoples. Speaking at the meeting, Hneifat said the Jordanian side agreed with the Saudi delegation to send a technical team representing the Saudi government to follow up on Jordan’s cattle-related endemic situation and the mechanisms for dealing with it within the next 48 hours. In light of that, Hneifat added that “appropriate” decisions will be taken in relation to Jordanian livestock exports to Saudi Arabia ahead of Eid al-Adha. Hneidfat also pointed to the “depth” of Jordanian-Saudi relations, based on directives of the two kingdoms’ leaderships. The minister referred to an agreement on a Jordanian-Saudi memorandum of understanding (MoU), which contributes to transferring joint expertise in water harvesting, technologies and mechanisms in the water field and environmental projects, in accordance with the two countries’ policies and plans that are “similar in multiple ways,” primarily green area expansion and agricultural experiences. For his part, the Saudi minister stressed the “deep-rooted” Saudi-Jordanian relations and importance of enhancing joint cooperation to serve common interests, which reflect the two leaderships’ vision. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a slew of issues of common interest in the agricultural, environmental and water sectors.
