Amman – In a significant meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace on Monday, His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan expressed firm opposition to any scenario involving the Israeli reoccupation of parts of Gaza or the establishment of buffer zones in the region. This stance was articulated during a high-level gathering with the Senate president, House speaker, former prime ministers, and senior politicians.

According to Jordan News Agency, such actions would only serve to aggravate the crisis and violate Palestinian rights. He emphasized that military or security solutions will not resolve the conflict and called for an immediate cessation of the war. The King stressed the need for a serious political process based on the two-state solution to ensure lasting peace.

Highlighting the importance of Palestinian unity, King Abdullah warned against any attempts to separate Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian Territories. He urged the international community to address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza immediately, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.

His Majesty condemned the collective punishment, civilian killings, and destruction of vital facilities, including hospitals and places of worship. He also noted that ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including settler attacks, risk escalating the conflict.

King Abdullah asserted that the root cause of the crisis is the occupation and denial of Palestinian rights, emphasizing that any deviation from addressing these issues will inevitably lead to more violence and destruction. He reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering position in defending the rights of Palestinians in Gaza and its role as a steadfast supporter of the Palestinian cause.

Participants in the meeting echoed the King’s sentiments, highlighting Jordan’s crucial role in engaging the international community to pressure Israel to cease its actions in Gaza. They commended Jordan’s proactive stance in addressing the Palestinian plight and praised the King’s efforts at both regional and international levels to halt the Israeli aggression.

The speakers also supported Jordan’s measures to safeguard its security and national interests, including its firm rejection of forced or internal displacement of Palestinians. They lauded the Egyptian stance on the issue as well.

The meeting underscored the importance of Jordan’s relief, humanitarian, and medical aid efforts for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Attendees included Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Senate President Faisal Fayez, House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, and several former prime ministers and senior officials.
