Amman: Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and the UAE Minister of Investment, Mohammed Alsuwaidi, Wednesday, discussed ties and cooperation in investment and development.

Khasawneh and Alsuwaidi discussed, in Amman, developments regarding the implementation of the $5.5 billion package of investment projects included in the memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, which were signed during the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Abu Dhabi in November 2023.

They agreed on the “importance” of implementing the projects included in the memorandums of understanding and continued search for new areas for cooperation.

In November, Jordan and the UAE signed three memorandums of understanding in Abu Dhabi.

The first MoU was signed between the Jordan Investment Fund (JIF) and Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company on projects to operate the Aqaba multipurpose port, develop a waste transfer station to energy, a joint venture agreement with the Aqaba Development Company to establish a Port Commun
ity System (PCS) to supervise port communications, a cross-border railway project agreement, and the development of a wastewater treatment plant in Wadi Zarqa.

The second MoU was signed between the ministries of investment in the two countries for cooperation in the field of investment. The third is between the government and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to finance $400 million in development projects in Jordan.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation, Nasser Shraideh, and Minister of Investment Kholoud Saqqaf attended the meeting.
