King Abdullah II of Jordan said today that the Israeli war on Gaza, which claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people, must stop, affirming that the values of all divine religions and common human values categorically reject the killing and terrorizing of civilians.

In a letter addressing the Chairman of the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, Sheikh Niang, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which falls on November 29 of each year, King Abdullah said the heinous Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the illegal violations it is carrying out in the West Bank are inconsistent with the values of humanity and the right to life.

The King added that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People comes in exceptional circumstances that require the entire world to take action to stop the war on Gaza, protect defenseless civilians and hospitals, oblige Israel to lift the siege, open the way for the work of hum
anitarian organizations, and ensure the delivery of sufficient relief and medical aid without interruption.

He stressed that depriving the people of Gaza of water, food, medicine and electricity is a war crime that cannot be tolerated, and its continuation means doubling the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there.

In order to confront this fierce attack on humanity, The Jordanian King said, it is necessary to intensify the efforts of international and humanitarian organizations to work with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to ensure the provision of aid in Gaza and all areas of its operations.

‘This requires an immediate action by the international community to enhance the support provided to UNRWA so that it continues, in accordance with its UN mandate, to provide its health and relief services…weakening or stopping this agency will exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and will have dire consequences in the West Bank and the diaspora,’ he said
.

King Abduallah reaffirmed that Israel’s continued killing and destruction, and attempts to displace Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, are a challenge to international humanitarian law, and will ignite more cycles of violence and cause destruction in the region and the world.

He pointed out that security and stability will not be achieved through military and security solutions, but rather through a political solution that restores the Palestinian people’s full and legitimate rights.

The King renewed Jordan’s rejection of any scenarios or ideas of reoccupying parts of Gaza or establishing buffer zones there, as well as his complete rejection of any attempt to separate the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as they are an extension of the one Palestinian state.
