Jordan on Sunday continues to bake in a scorching heatwave, resulting in exceedingly hot weather throughout various regions. Many areas, especially in the southern and eastern parts of the country, are experiencing dusty conditions. Moreover, there are sightings of medium-to-high-level clouds, with a possibility of brief and light rainfall occurring intermittently, particularly in the southwest, accompanied by thunderstorms at times, forecasters said.
The winds are expected to be moderate in speed, predominantly blowing from the southeast, occasionally picking up.
In its daily report, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) issued a warning against the hazards associated with reduced visibility due to dust, especially in desert areas, advising people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and to refrain from leaving children and the elderly unattended in enclosed vehicles.
Additionally, it urged individuals to exercise caution and avoid starting fires in forested and grassy areas to prevent the outbreak of wildfires, emphasizing the importance of not leaving flammable substances such as sanitizers and perfumes inside vehicles.
According to the weather forecast, a minor temperature decrease is expected tomorrow, Monday. The mountainous areas will have hot weather, while the remaining regions will experience sweltering temperatures. Dusty conditions are anticipated at times in the Badia, with intermittent cloud cover at medium and high altitudes. The winds will be moderate in speed, predominantly coming from the southeast, occasionally becoming stronger.
Tuesday will see a further decline in temperatures, with overall hot weather prevailing. Clouds will be present at medium and high altitudes, while the winds will be moderate in speed, mainly coming from the northwest, stirring up at times.
Today’s peak temperatures will be between 38 and 43 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 26C or even 24C in the southern highlands at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have scorching weather, with highs of 43C and lows of 34C.
