Kuwait is increasingly devoting attention to back up technological and scientific innovation and engaging all segments of society, namely women in innovative knowledge, a senior official said.
The Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs, Social Development and Minister of State for Women and Child Affairs, Mai Al-Baghli, made the affirmation during the UN fourth discussion panel of DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality; part of the organization’s celebrations of the International Women’s Day, today.
Women nowadays have the opportunity to expand their social, economic and political participation, the minister said, indicating that they could launch start-ups once they acquired the know-how and skills.
Although minister Al-Baghli boasted that Kuwait has one of the highest records in using digital means, she noted need to protect female citizens against online abuse.
Practically in this respect, the State of Kuwait had already enacted legislations to combat electronic crimes and bullying targeting both men and women, she pointed out.
